School of Rock: Reading about Rockstars

This week I started reading Slash by...no way....Slash. Really? How surprising. Yet another egotistic rockstar.

Made me think about how many books about rock'n'roll I've read at this point. It's quite a few. And so far, I haven't really been disappointed. As someone who spends some of her free time with prominent metal bands every few months, I can vouch for the truth of these stories from Motley Crue, Led Zeppelin, and other major acts.

Now that does not mean I've hung out backstage at a Crue concert. I haven't - I'll be honest. But the song remains the same. The sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll are always there, and some pretty obscene things, as well as pleasantly surprising behaviors, are bound to happen on any given night.

I've created a list of the best rock books I can recall reading in the last few years. Of course, none are really out of place or unexpected if you're into reading rock recollections. But for those who are just beginning their rock education, this should be a good place to start.

Enjoy.
