Balmain: Fall 2010 Ready-to-Wear
Yeah, I know. In my dreams that I could ever actually afford both the rockstar lifestyle and anything Balmain has ever made. But seriously - did he spend the last year hanging out with Russian pop stars and groupies of The Strokes, or what?
Skinny jeans, leather lush purples, golds, maximizing the ostentatious elements and making these ladies look like they just might be men from a 70s band. No offense. I know this is what models are supposed to look like and all...but Balmain sure as hell made use of his anorexics by creating a line that I'm convinced might have been stolen from Keith Richard's closet. Well, his pre-Pirates closet.
Well, to be fair, the other half of the collection is more inspired by the eclectic suit-wearing Jimmy Page. And oh do I LOVE it. At 12, I actually bought a white suit hoping to recreate the one worn by Jimmy Page in a number of his most famous on-stage images. I never got around to it. But maybe, on that ill-planned day that I decide I'd rather spend a thousand on clothing and pass on my rent, I'll splurge on one of these ensembles. I'll apologize to you on behalf of Balmain, Mr. Page. 'Cause you done got gypped.
